FLU TRIALS
Primary Physicians Research frequently conducts trials of flu vaccines for a variety of ages at various times throughout the year. Persons interested in learning more about these trials should call PPR.
A STUDY FOR AN INVESTIGATIONAL COMBINATION VACCINE FOR HEALTHY INFANTS
General information about Combination Vaccines and the study
Some information about Combination Vaccines. . . . . . .
Vaccines protect children from disease but the current childhood immunization guidelines call for up to 22 different injections (shots) in the first 15-18 months of life, with as many as 5 injections given at a single visit. Combination vaccines allow children to receive fewer shots while still being protected against the same number of diseases. An example of a combination vaccine that is already licensed is the MMR vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella. The investigational vaccines in this study combine 4 or 5 of the usual vaccinations into one shot. They contain diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis (DTaP) and inactivated poliovirus (IPV), with or without Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib).
What is the purpose of the study ???
The purpose of this study is to further test the safety and effectiveness of two investigational combination vaccines, when used in immunization schedules with other vaccines and given to healthy infants. The investigational combination vaccines will be compared to licensed vaccines to see if there are any differences. Combination vaccines may not work as well as getting the vaccinations separately and that is why we can't just mix the shots together. A lot of research has to go into making sure combination shots are safe and that they work well.
How will being involved in this study potentially benefit me or my family ???
Your child will have the benefit of being immunized with vaccines against Hib, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliovirus, pneumococcus, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B and varicella. The investigational combination vaccines in this study have been licensed and used in Canada, where over 10 million doses have been given since 1997. However since the study combination vaccines (involving DPT, Hib and polio) are not licensed in the United States, no claims to their effectiveness can be given. By allowing your child to participate in the study you may be helping the advancement and development of combination vaccines for infants and toddlers.
VACCINE TRIAL FOR INFANTS
Attention Parents: Your pediatrician is currently conducting a research trial to evaluate investigational combinations of approved childhood vaccines when given together or apart.
Qualified Participants must be: Qualified Participants will receive:
1) 12 to 15 months 1) Study Vaccines at no charge
2) In good health
3) Negative history of Measles, Mumps, Rubella,

If you are interested in participating, please contact your pediatric nurse.
PRIMARY PHYSICIANS RESEARCH (PPR) is currently looking to enroll healthy children between the ages of 4 and 7 years old in a clinical research trial of a meningococcal vaccine. The duration of the study is 60 days and there will be two (2) blood samples collected during the 60 day period. Qualified participants in the study will receive compensation for time and travel. For more information or to find a PPR site near you, contact Primary Physicians Research at 1-800-839-3774.
PARTICIPANTS WANTED: Adults 19 years of age and older may qualify to participate in a clinical trial of an investigational flu vaccine.
Qualified candidates should not have had:
Flu vaccine in the past 6 months Td vaccine in the past 5 years Tdap vaccine

CLINICAL RESEARCH TRIAL OF AN INVESTIGATIONAL MENINGOCOCCAL VACCINE -- Primary Physicians Research is currently conducting a clinical research trial of an investigational meningitis vaccine for healthy infants 9 months. The start of the study at 9 months works out well since, typically, there are no other vaccines required at that visit. Qualified patients will receive one shot and one blood draw at the first visit. For more information or to see if your child qualifies to participate, contact Primary Physicians Research at 1-800-839-3774. Compensation for time and travel provided to qualified participants.
Meningitis Vaccine Research Study for Toddlers
Dr. Mark Blatter - Primary Physicians Research
1580 McLaughlin Run Road - Pittsburgh, PA 15241
Our office is participating in a clinical research study to evaluate an investigational meningococcal vaccine for the pediatric immunization series. Your child's participation in this study may contribute to the development of a vaccine to prevent a serious childhood disease.
If your child is 6-9 months old, call us to discuss participation in the Meningitis Vaccination Pediatric Study (MVPs).
All visits, physical exams, and study vaccines will be provided at no cost to the parent/guardian of the study participant, who may be compensated for time and travel. Study participants also will receive some of the routine immunizations recommended during the study period.
If you are interested in enrolling your child into this study, please contact Study Coordinator, Lynn Regina at (412) 257-4461, Ext. 128.
