PIGS AND STATE FAIRS
9/3/2009 - According to a report on NPR, there is increasing concern that pigs may catch swine flu from humans. Since the variant of H1N1 now spreading is not exactly the same as the one spreading in pigs, this could allow further mixing of strains and the creation of a new strain and a new pandemic.
This has led some state fairs to put up signs asking people to stay away if they are ill and asking them to wash their hands with the hand sanitizers BEFORE they enter. Interestingly, the NPR report mentioned that many are, indeed, washing their hands but they're doing this as they EXIT, not when they ENTER.
