11/11/09 In a report to be released next week by the CDC in Atlanta, the new number of estimated deaths from H1N1 disease will be raised to 4000. This is far greater than the current estimate of 1100 and is felt to be a more accurate picture as the new number will include both those patients with confirmed disease as well as those thought to have had the disease. This more closely mirrors the reports of annual deaths from seasonal flu where the estimated 36,000 deaths per year includes both confirmed cases as well as suspected cases.
