HHS Secretary Sebelius statement 7/13/09
The AP (7/13) reports, "The United States is ready to announce another $1 billion in orders for swine flu vaccinations. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says she will announce Monday that Washington has approved another billion dollars to buy components of the vaccine." She said Sunday that "research is under way to provide a safe and effective vaccine to fight a flu strain that could be a pandemic."
Bloomberg News (7/13, Giudice) notes that Sebelius said that in the US, "we have about 1 million cases of H1N1 right now." Officially, "the number of laboratory confirmed case of the H1N1 strain of influenza totaled 37,246, including 211 deaths, according to statistics released July 10 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
